Report: Keep Mount Zion Jewish Demonstration
This will be short, since it's minutes before Shabbat, and obviously I wasn't home for a few precious hours.
Siyata d'Shmaya, through the hand of G-d, I managed to get to the President's Residence a half hour early and hid out, since guards inspect everyone who seems to be loitering.
At 11am three young men showed up looking for the demonstration. The guards immediately started asking them who/what/why etc and escorted them to the sidewalk across the street where demonstrations are allowed. I joined and spoke to the guard and then the police explaining what was happening. None of them had heard about the government's plans to give/sell Mt. Zion to the Vatican. Remember that security officials are also citizens and need to know, so that was fine.
Soon we were joined by another few women; one brought signs, and I made some quick small ones on colored paper from home. None of the "organizers" were there. I just obeyed the call to go, didn't organize but became the spokesperson.
The boys are from the Diaspora Yeshiva and said that their Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Goldstein would be arriving.
People read our signs and a few asked questions. The crowd grew but we were still under the number one needs for a permit which we didn't have.
Jerusalem City Councilwoman, Mina Fenton arrived. She seems to be the top politician showing any concern. She rightly mentioned that we need more publicity especially in Hebrew.
I left early, since there was someone from Ofra, who could give me a ride almost all the way home.
Shabbat Shalom

Think Purim!
Dear Batya and all:
Thank you so much for being there to defend our collective and eternal Heritage! I wish I could be there with you in body.
I am glad that you also have decided to be affirmative, that the right thing will be done. How can the President of Israel deny this?
Your suggestions for placards is very good:
- "SUGGESTED PLACARDS:
PUBLIC PROTEST CAMPAIGN TO SAVE JEWISH MT. ZION SUCCEEDS
PRESIDENT DENIES HE WILL SIGN AWAY KING DAVID'S TOMB
FOR THE SAKE OF MT. ZION, I WILL NOT BE SILENT"
Folks should try to get agreement from the gov't that it is true! -
Do people think it might be a good idea to do something more - such as a quickie award ceremony? Invite the Pres. to a photo opportunity, and give him some kind of a plaque or letter thanking him. Maybe a poster or a map? - Keys to the city?!!
Have fun with it and make it so positive that he will just have to smile and agree.
Do do the same - using the sme posters or maybe even thanking the Vatican, too, for helping to preserve Jewish Israel! - at an important Catholic administrative site. They are the ones applying the pressure - and who knows what coercion or blackmail is being applied by the US State Dept.
Be well, and I hope that you are having a Good Shabbos!
