The Birthright program offers tours to young Jewish adults who haven't been to Israel. Recently there were participants raised as hidden Jews. They're from families who had been hiding their heritage since the Spanish Inquisition in the 15th century. The ancestors of these young people fled to South America, but even there, they didn't publicly admit their Jewishness. Only now, five hundred years later, are they brave enough to openly admit that they are Jews.
